GRIN GUIDES

Braces? Find the right grin.

ORTHO, standard mouthguards and Marvel designs for braces: the model name matters more than the artwork when choosing.

A mouthguard with striking artwork is not automatically designed for braces. Start with the model’s intended use before choosing a colour or character. SafeJawz offers a dedicated ORTHO range for people with braces. The manufacturer states that the standard INTRO range is unsuitable for braces. Read the full product name and description, even when two products share the same design. If you are unsure what is suitable for your braces, check with your dentist or orthodontist before buying and fitting a mouthguard.

What makes ORTHO different?

SafeJawz describes BraceHarbour as the shape that provides space for upper braces. LowerBlok is part of the construction designed with the lips and cheeks in mind where lower braces are present. These are model-specific features, not extras that can be added to a standard mouthguard afterwards. The manufacturer also offers dedicated Marvel ORTHO models, including Spider-Man, Captain America and Venom. Look for ORTHO in the product name when combining braces with a particular design. Check the selected model before continuing to the basket.

Use the instructions for your exact model

Read the information supplied in the pack and open the manufacturer’s fitting guide for the exact model before starting. Do not copy a method from another mouthguard simply because the products look similar. Keep the model name so you can find the correct instructions again. Clubs should list braces requirements separately: ask each athlete to clarify their needs before collecting quantities and sizes. This helps avoid supplying a standard version to the wrong player. Contact us about the range and product information; discuss questions about your treatment with your clinician.
